Birthdays and Swimming

The next few days after we got back to Grandpa's, were spent swimming and playing with cousins. We also celebrated Owen and Sadie's birthday's on Saturday, which was Sadie's birthday. Owen was so attached to me this whole trip, which explains him in the picture that I set him down for two seconds, in.

The water was cold, and so was the weather outside, so neither of the kids really wanted to get in. Owen refused but Sadie would get in every once in a while. She really enjoyed playing with the pool toys OUT of the water.

Playing on the slide with Grandma.

She loved this thing.
This trip was filled with good and bad experiences but I was very glad we were able to go. It's sad to think we may not have much longer with my Grandpa in this life and I will jump at every opportunity we have to see him!

Another day at the beach

The next morning we thought we got up early enough to find shells but I guess it wasn't early enough so we just played in the sand and water.

Sadie loves the water so much.

Buried in the sand, eating the sand, again.
The water that would stay in these dips in the sand was nice and warm.

Rick and Sadie out with Shaina.

Those are Owen's cute little footprints and that is Owen way out there. This is his way of telling me he's cold and tired of the beach and wants to go back to camp. I thought the picture turned out really cool

Rick and Shaina out on the boards.
Owen's birthday was the second day we were on the coast and it was rough for Owen. He spent most the day (and the whole trip) getting hurt and crying. It was sad to see and we tried really hard to make it enjoyable for him. I guess he's more of a warm/dry climate guy; I guess it's good we live in a desert. The over all trip was ok and made Rick never want to do it again, but maybe in 3 or 4 years we'll be ready to do it again.

July trip to Oregon

The week of the kids' birthdays, we went up to Oregon to visit my grandpa and also go to the Oregon coast. This was Owen's third trip to great-grandpa's and Sadie's first but neither of them have been in the summer or to the beach. It was really cold and overcast the whole time we were there but Sadie had a lot of fun!

She loved to eat the sand! We couldn't keep it out of her mouth for 2 seconds.

Out of order, but in the car on the way to the beach.

Owen liked to run out to the water and run back up with the tide.

The kids going out in the water with dad. I didn't get in the whole time. It was way too cold.

My wonderful parents.

Sadie, loving being buried in the sand.

And of course, as soon as he found out people don't like having sand thrown at them, that's all he would do.
Rather than trying to figure out how to get the pictures all posted in order, I think I'm going to try to break it down in days, so there might be a bunch of posts. It's been too long since I've blogged. I have to learn it all over again.

Easter Egg Hunt

My mom, Halie, Kaden, Owen, Sadie and I went to the Easter Egg Hunt at UVU on 4/16/11.
It was pretty much a complete waste of time. First off, I was in a rush to get out the door because online it said it would start promptly at 8 am, so we hurried there and then no one was there and someone told us it started at 9! My mom was coming from work, so she was exhausted from being up all night and I'm not a morning person, so that made us a little irritated that they would false advertise like that but somehow everyone got the memo but us. When it finally started, there were long lines and Owen doesn't understand lines, so he didn't know why we couldn't just to play instead of waiting our turn, so he wasn't having much fun. The hunt started at 10:45, I believe, and it was just utter chaos. The hunt is for kids, NOT the kids PARENTS! There is a reason they separated it into kids UNDER 5! I'm surprised no one was trampled and killed.

Coloring a bow-tie to stick on the Easter bunny
After probably 30 min in line, he finally got to run up and stick it on.

Owen's tie is the lower one. Kaden chose not to be blind folded so his is of course placed right in the correct place.
In the end, Halie ended up with 3 eggs and Owen and Kaden each had one egg which someone shared because they were lucky enough to get some. This is the first and last public Easter Egg Hunt we will be attending.
Owen went over to Grandma's after to have a real Easter egg hunt with Halie and Kaden while Sadie and I went grocery shopping. They had much fun and much more success.

Grandma's birthday

On Friday, April 15th, we went to Crystal Hot Springs for Rick's mom's birthday. I wasn't sure what the weather was going to be like, since it had been raining and snowing for a week or two but everyone else seemed to think it would be warm. It looked like a nice day here in Provo, so we were set to go. We traveled two hours north and when we got out of the car, realized it was cold up there. We hurried into the nice hot water and then it was too cold to get out and get the camera to take pictures, plus I was holding one of the two kids most the time, so this explains why the pictures are of the car ride there and nothing else. I wish I would've taken pictures but oh well, next time.
This is Owen's famous "silly face"
It came to be because one night, I laid him down to change his diaper to go to bed and I look at his face and he was looking at me like this. I could not stop laughing and he just kept looking at me like that. To this day, it still keeps me laughing and he knows I like it, so he likes to show it to me more than other people. I see it more when it's just me and him up late at night. I love him more than he'll ever know!

He slept about half the way. Lately he's been taking occasional naps, which is weird because he hasn't taken naps for like a year now. Most the time he wakes up screaming and continues throughout the night, so we don't like him taking them.
My wonderful husband, looking through Willie's phone. He wasn't happy I was taking pictures of him.
And the beautiful Sadie!
..All dressed for warm weather, might I add. I didn't even bring a blanket for her. Luckly I packed her pajama's for afterward. It was still cold though. Willie was the only one prepared with a jacket which he graciously shared with me and the kids.

The next day, 4/16/11, was grandma's actual birthday and we hosted a barbeque for her at our house.
I'm trying to update a little, so here's a start.
Here are some pictures of Sadie crawling around and getting into mischief

And here's a video of Owen playing with Chico. I don't know why you would ever want someone to bite you but he loves it!

Monday, January 3, 2011

Ok so it's been a really long time since I've posted anything but our lives have been busy to the extreme. We moved into our new house on Christmas Eve and have been enjoying every minute of it. I finally got a merited position at work, which means I can finally take some time off to be at home. With that, my days off also changed so I have sunday and monday off and get to go to church again, yay! Rick also found out that he might be offered a job in law enforcement pretty soon, which is so exciting. I don't know much about it though. Anyways, Christmas kinda sucked because my co-worker thinks that she's the only person who has a family and was very selfish and made me work both Christmas Eve and Day, so I got very minimal time to spend with my family.
On another note, we goy our carpet in and our washer and dryer, so it's been a very good week this past week. I also found out last night, that my brother Kyal is going on a mission. Aparently everyone has known for a while but no one decided to let me in on that bit of information. He was ordained an Elder last night and will be starting his papers any day now.
My brother Jason and sister in law Katie and their daughter Callie moved to Texas this past week because Jason will be doing his internship down there til march or april. It's going to be wierd without them at sunday dinner at my parents.
Sadie is 5 months old now and just all smiles all the time and cute as ever. Owen is almost 18 months which means he can almost go to nursery! That will be so nice to just take him and let him play. There are so many toddlers and babies in our new ward; our kids will have many friends. I can't believe how fast he's growing up. He has a mouth full of teeth and he's so smart. He's not my little baby anymore and I just see Sadie growing up so fast right behind him. I'm almost shopping in the toddler section for her, which is so sad. I'm very excited for them to grow up though. I love my little family so much!
